Update #11 – April 18th, 2021
We have received clarification regarding the Regulations governing operations at Sarnia Yacht Club. Unfortunately, we will once again have to close the gates to members, and only proceed with essential maintenance services. The gates will be turned off the Rotational Schedule at 4:00 pm, April 18, until further notice. Directors will be making rounds to ensure the safety of your property, as always. Dredging will continue, as will essential docks maintenance to prepare wells for occupancy. Do not hesitate to reach out if you have any particular questions or concerns.
Please be aware, 'commercial marinas' are allowed to continue with their work, such as engine repair, boat repainting etc. This work involves employees who are governed under a number of Workplace guidelines. The government has chosen to differentiate commercial operations from private clubs in this round of restrictions, deleting boating clubs and other organizations that maintained docking facilities. So, you may see differences in operation between clubs such as Bridgeview and ourselves. This difference is solely due to the distinction drawn between 'Marinas' and all other boating operations.
Recreational boating is not permitted at this time.
You can still access your boat to retrieve items, or secure your boat, by making arrangements with Erik Mortensen (519-466-0438).
We will be assessing how the extended shut-down affects our previously announced launch dates and access to the Club by members in a future update. Stay tuned.
