Entertainment Update - June 21, 2020

Event Date:
Sunday, June 21, 2020 (All day) - Tuesday, June 30, 2020 (All day)

Main Sheet: - Entertainment Director’s Report.

The Sarnia Yacht Club, Board of Directors are to be commended for their steadfast dedication to the safety and wellbeing of our membership.  Everyone, every day and everything we do is affected by Government compliance to prevent the spread of COVID-19.  We no longer are able to hug each other in celebration of a win.  We can’t shake each other’s hands for fear of spreading the virus.  We are required to sanitize everything everywhere.  I could go on but we are all too familiar with the unprecedented events which have reshaped our lives.  Add to these high-water levels not seen since our club was formed.  It’s making for an interesting, challenging and not really very entertaining in the real sense of the meaning of entertainment.

The Entertainment Director has been asked to postpone or cancel all events in the Clubhouse at the beach and anywhere a gathering is possible.   The passing of Pat Edwards just recently added to the malaise.

However, hope springs eternal.  When all this is over, we are going to have to have a party.  (If we can remember how).  Fear is a great motivator.  Although it has been said that ‘there is nothing to fear except fear itself.’  It is humbling to accept the fact the things we knew are forever changed and affected by the need to comply to Government rulings.  Orwellian in scope and execution, the doors we used to enjoy going through are closed until further notice.

Looking ahead it is virtually impossible to make plans for any event this year.  Parties with more than 10 people as of this writing are still not allowed.  Goodness we can’t even sing and dance for fear of passing on something.

As such I am sad to report that there are no announcements about upcoming events.

It is my hope that everyone stays safe and healthy.

Do enjoy our wonderful jewel on the lake.  Watch a sunset, go sailing/boating with family and friends.

Which when you really think about it, in itself is pretty spectacular and wonderful.

Cheers

Lou
