The Sarnia Yacht Club has been providing sail training since 1951 and has developed a program that has gained a reputation of excellence.

Catering to children 5 and older and adults older than 18 years, the program provides qualified instructors that guide students through the fundamentals of sailing and seamanship, recognizing achievements with certification in accordance with CYA (Canadian Yachting Association) standards.
The program, which is self-funding, is consistently supported by SYC member donations and fund- raising activities.
Students utilize the SYC Basin for entry-level lessons with advanced lessons and race teams sailing the clear blue waters of Lake Huron.
All students are provided with well maintained boats that are selected for their ability to provide a safe learning environment. Looking for a great way to enjoy your summer and have lots of fun...?

2016 Youth Programs

We offer a choice of 1/2 day (morning or afternoon monthly sessions) youth learn to sail programs, and full day two-week youth learn to sail programs. Additionally this year we are able to once again offer introductory TASTE sessions. New to our Youth Learn to Sail programs in 2016, is the addition of the CANSAIL “Wet Feet” 1⁄2 day morning two week introductory programs for beginning sailors ages 5-8.
Students participating in the full day programs may bring a lunch or purchase food in the Club Galley.
For working parents/guardians - Early Morning Drop-off & Late Afternoon Pick-up (see Program Times & Fee Schedule web pages for details)

2016 Adult & Family Evening Programs

Adult & Family "Learn to Sail" month long programs are offered twice weekly on Tuesday & Thursday evenings. In 2016 we are trialing the inclusion of Parent/Youth participation in the evening Adult Learn to Sail program. Family members will sail together in a boat. We utilize the Vibes & Omegas in our Adult & Family evening programs. The larger Omegas with excellent stability are an ideal for those of us not blessed with agile athletic abilities. If your schedule does not permit attendance twice/week please call Derek Jackson for accommodation.
Private lessons and Team Building day-sails are also available.

2016 Youth Sailfest Taz Regatta
